Early Summer Break Day 7 TDS 「つゆ休み」７日目 TDSへ

It was raining on June 6th, but I went to Tokyo Disney Sea with my sister thanks to my colleague who gave me tickets.  Tokyo Disney Resort is located on a reclaimed lot, so, you would be standing on the sea when you are at the park.  It's not a place I want to be on a hot summer day, so rain was OK.
I worked as an interpreter over an 8-month period stretching before and after the grand opening of the Tokyo  Disney Land 35 years ago.  So I have special feelings about the TDR.  I haven't had a chance to visit the park for a long time, and actually, this was my first time at TDS.  
It turned out to be probably the least crowded day of the year as a couple of the more popular attractions were closed for the day, and it was also the last day of the park's spring event.  We didn't have to resort to Fast Passes at all, and the longest time we stood in line was for 35 minutes.  The rain got harder later in the afternoon, but we could enjoy indoor shows, and headed home without waiting for the fireworks that were likely to be canceled due to rain.


先日友人からTDLかTDSのどちらかで使えるチケットを譲り受けたので、ディズニー好きの妹を誘って、ふたりの日程がここなら合うという６月６日にTDSに行った。
「６月６日に雨ザーザー降ってきて～」の絵描きうた通り、午後からは結構な本降りの雨になったけど、もともと埋立地のTDR、晴れの日の暑さを思えば雨の方が楽だし、なによりすいているのがよかった。１年のうちでも梅雨時は狙い目、というのは３５年前のオープン時から変わらず、この日は人気アトラクションがお休みだったり、春からのイベント最終日というタイミングだったせいでリピーターさんは少なかったのだろう、おそらく今年一番空いていたのではないかと思われるほど空いていた。

それでも入場すると、キャラクターたちと写真を撮るためにゲストが行列していた。

　

まずはインディジョーンズのファストパスを取ろうと歩き出したら、３５周年記念の水上ショーが始まったので、しばし足を止めて見る。あ、キャストもカッパ着てる～～

　

インディに行ってみると３５分待ちで乗れるというので、ファストパスはやめて並ぶ。
この分なら、どこも空いているからあとは成り行きで回ることに。
だんだん雨が本降りになったので写真を撮らなかったこともあり、そこそこ行きたかったところは回れた。

私は３５年前のTDLグランドオープン前後の８ヶ月、TDLで通訳の仕事をしていたので、初めて来たTDSでもキャストの動きや施設の配置、案内の表示等に目が行く。TDLを作った時はとにかくオリジナル通りに、というのと、日本の規制や慣習とのせめぎあいがいろいろあったのに対して、Seaはイチから日本で作ったものだから、全体の収まりがよい代わりにやはり日本テイストが前面に出ている気がした。

この天気では花火も中止になりそうなので、１８時頃には帰路に。
