１１月も終わり。今月は早く過ぎた。
というのも、初旬から中旬にかけて夫に感染症が出たりしていたから。
尿カテーテルを入れているとどうしても感染症にかかりやすいため
抗生剤は常備して、熱が出るとできるだけ先手を打つのだけど、
今回は敗血症になったりした前回ほどではひどくはなかったものの、
耐性菌が出てしまったので、点滴の調剤が前回とは異なり、
薬剤は冷蔵しなければいけないし、これが生理食塩水に溶けにくく、
しかしビンを振って混ぜると泡立ってしまうのでNG。
よくなじませた上で１０分放置して溶解を待つ、というちょっと面倒なものになり、
２週間けっこう大変だった。点滴針が手に入っていると着替えにも気を使うし。
それに加えて、その時の血液検査で血糖値が高いことが判明。
感染があるときは血糖値は上がるものだが、それにしてもこの値は、ということに。
人間の身体が糖を一番使うのは筋肉なのだが、ALSは筋肉が減っていく病気なので
うまく糖をとりこめなくなっているのが一因。
それから、計算してみると摂取カロリーが過多になっているのも原因では、とのこと。
それはそうだ。
前回の感染の後、栄養強化するようにと言われて温泉たまごを入れたりしていたけど、
それをいつやめるのか、一向に血液検査もせずフォローしなかったのは誰だ。ブツブツ
カロリーを見直した上で、服薬とインスリン、
そしてインスリン投与とセットでの血糖値測定が始まってしまった。
毎朝、である。
自分のことならいいけれど、人の身体に針を刺すというのはイヤなものだ。
平気な人もいるかもしれないけど、それは私ではないし、これに慣れたくも、ない。
そのこと自体も気分の良いことではないが、むしろもっと不愉快なのは
こういう私の気持ちに対する医療関係者の無頓着さだ。
今回に限らず、なにかにつけて
病気だから仕方ない、家族だからやって当然、という基本姿勢。
それがこちら側からどうみえるか、あの人たちは考えたりしないのだろうか。
それはともかく、血糖値、早く落ち着いて欲しいものだ。

カンバタンゴがやってきた！ A surprise visit.

夫が所属していたオルケスタYOKOHAMAのメンバーで同じバンドネオン奏者の平田耕治君がブエノスアイレスで結成したユニット、カンバタンゴ。ギターのアリエルとルーカス、歌手のエバが来日して２年ぶりの日本ツアーが始まったところ。その忙しいスケジュールを縫って、エバを除く３人が夫のために演奏しに来宅してくれた。
アリエルが挨拶もそこそこにすぐギターを取り出し、
ソロでバッハとフォルクローレを。
その後３人息の合った演奏で、ワルツ、タンゴ、ミロンガ、チャマメまで！
夫は外出できないので、生演奏の出前はなによりありがたい。
そしてタンゴほど人を元気にする音楽はないから、本当に嬉しかった。
カンバタンゴとは初来日の際、横浜のミロンガで演奏できるよう夫がアレンジしたことがあり、彼らのバイラブレな演奏に、生演奏で踊るのに慣れていない人が多かったはずなのに、とても盛り上がって良いミロンガになったのだった。きょうの演奏も自然と身体が動き出してしまう、ビート感溢れる演奏だった。
平田君は「このくらいしかできなくて」と言うけれど、
彼だから、彼とその仲間だからできることをしてくれて感謝している。
出来上がったばかりの平田君のCDも購入。

We got a surprise visit by CAMBATANGO, a tango unit that our friend, Koji Hirata, formed in Buenos Aires. The group is now in Japan, and Koji brought his two guitarists, Ariel and Lucas, to play for my husband.
Considering the fact that the group is playing everyday in various places in Japan during their tour, it was almost a miracle that we could work out our schedule on a short notice (one day before).
Ariel played some solo pieces before the group played their repartoire---tango, vals, milonga and chamame.
One thing that caught my attention was the good balance of the sound between the bandoneon and the guitars. I had an impression that bandoneon is always loud and it's hard to adjust the volume level with other instruments. But this trio was keeping good balance throughout their playing. It was most notable when the bandoneon and the guitar play unison or same movements in harmony. It was so nice to be soaked in their sound. CAMBATANGO is such a good ensemble.
Koji has just released a new CD.
We asked him to bring 10 copies so we can share it with our friends.
It turned out to be an excellent collection of well-known and less-known pieces.
Koji selected them based on his memories with the maestros he worked with over the years.
We wish both the group's tour and the CD to be successful.

"You're not you."
Just saw the movie, "You're not you." with Hillary Swank.
I went to see it just because it's about a woman with ALS.
Swank is not necessarily my favorite actress, and I didn't do much research before going.
As the title appeared on the screen, I was a little surprised,
because, unlike me, I hadn't checked the original title,
and didn't know it was so different from the Japanese title.
In Japan, foreign movies are often given Japanese titles when they go on screen.
Sometimes, they are same as the original, such as Star Wars and Back to the Future,
but often---especially when neither the original as it is nor literal translation works---
distributors create titles that may be more appealing to Japanese audience.
So, this one was titled
"In place of a good-bye."
In a way, it was misleading.
With this title, I had imagined that the movie was about the woman's life with ALS,
and what impact she leaves on her private caretaker.
But, no, that was not the focus, and it was so expressed in the original title.
"You're not you." was about 2 women who were hiding their true self,
and came to rediscover and reveal it through their friendship.
So, it appeared to me ALS was just a setting in this movie, which I didn't buy.
ALS is a disease that affects patients quite differently from person to person.
Maybe Swank was doing a good job in her role of a woman described in the original novel and the scrip, but her condition was totally different from my husband's, or any other patients I've ever seen.
I only hope that people wouldn't assume that ALS symptoms always develop like that.
Another thing that bothered me was a stereotypical way of depicting rich people as pretentious and nice on the surface but not very caring, while people who are not established are more down-to-earth. I don't think the world is that simple.
I liked the movie, "The Theory of Everything",about Stephen Hawking and his wife.
Compared to that, "You're not you." was a disappointment.
